Use song as ringtone

Songs must be .mp3 files stored on your phone or computer (not streamed from a music service).

Copy the song

  1. Do one of the following:

    • If the song is on your phone, search for “file manager” in Play Store and install an app to copy files. Use the app to locate the song in your Music folder or on your SD card.
    • If the song is on your computer, connect the phone and computer with a USB cable.
  2. Copy the song (.mp3 file) into the Ringtones or Notifications or Alarms folder on your phone, depending on how you want to use it.
  3. Update your settings to select the song as a ringtone.

Use a ringtone maker app

Ringtone maker apps let you use portions or entire songs as ringtones, copying the files from your Music folder to the appropriate folders for you.

  1. Search for “ringtone maker” in Play Store and install an app that lets you create custom ringtones with your music.
  2. Open the app and use it to select entire songs or portions of songs and assign the song (default ringtone, contact, notification, alarm).
