TipYou can also change these settings right from a notification. Touch & hold the notification, then touch .

Stop app from sending notifications

  1. Go to Settings > Sound & notification > App notifications.
  2. Touch the app's name.
  3. Touch Block all.

Change notification sound

To change the default sound for all notifications, go to Settings > Sound & notification > Default notification ringtone. Learn more.

Bypass Do not disturb

To let an app's notifications be heard when Do not disturb is set to Priority only:

  1. Go to Settings > Sound & notification > App notifications.
  2. Touch the app's name.
  3. Touch Treat as priority.

Control lock screen notifications

If you've set a pattern, PIN or password, you can prevent lock screen notifications from revealing private information.

For all apps

  1. Go to Settings > Sound & notification > When device is locked.
  2. Do one of the following:

    • To hide all notifications on your lock screen, touch Don't show notifications at all. You can still peek at your notifications--swipe down on the lock screen, then enter your pattern, PIN, or password if required.
    • To hide sensitive content in notifications from all apps, touch Hide sensitive notification content. For example, you'll get a lock screen notification for an incoming email or chat, but it won't include message details.
    • To see all notifications and their content on your lock screen, touch Show all notification content.

Hide sensitive content from individual apps

  1. Set lock screen notifications for all apps to Show all notification content.
  2. Go to Settings > Sound & notification > App notifications.
  3. Touch the app name and turn on Hide sensitive content.

Turn off pop-up notifications

  1. Go to Settings > Sound & notification > App notifications.
  2. Touch the app's name.
  3. Turn Allow peeking off.

Control notifications within an app

You can also control app notifications within many apps.

  1. Open the app.
  2. Look for Settings, usually found under or .
  3. Look for Notifications and make changes.
TipTo silence notifications for an app, change the notification sound to None.
