Basic photos and selfies

Take a photo

Tap Photo or swipe sideways to select another photo mode.
Frame your subject. If needed:
- Zoom. Pinch/unpinch the screen, or, touch & hold 1X and drag to zoom in/out.
- Set the focus location. Tap the screen then drag the focus ring.
- Change the exposure. Tap the screen then drag .
- Switch between camera lenses.
- Add gridlines to help compose your photo.
To take the photo, press a Volume button. Or, use another capture method.
To review your photo, tap the thumbnail (next to ). Then:
- To view all thumbnails, tap the screen, then tap to open the Photos app.
- To view photos later, open the Photos app or other photo app you installed.

On the Camera screen, switch to the front camera:
- Tap .
- Or, twist your phone twice.
If needed:
- Adjust the beauty filter or choose if selfies are saved as mirrored.
- If you've got a large group, take a wide, panoramic selfie. Swipe sideways to More and tap Group Selfie.
To take the photo, press a Volume button. Or, use another capture method.

TipUse a tabletop tripod to stabilize the phone when taking timed shots.

If you're taking a selfie, tap .
Tap and choose or .
Frame your shot, and when you're ready, press a Volume button, or use another capture method, to start the countdown.
Take your place in the shot (if you're taking a selfie, simply wait) and smile!
