Use beauty filter

Your front (selfie) camera includes a beautification filter that you can use to apply these effects:

  • Change skin tone
  • Smooth skin texture
  • Enlarge eyes
  • Slenderize face

Use the filter

  1. Tap to switch to the front camera.
  2. Tap to turn it on.
  3. Swipe down from the top of the screen, then:

    • To automatically adjust the beauty filter, tap .
    • To manually adjust the beauty filter, tap , then adjust the intensity of the filter with the slider.
  4. To capture, press a Volume button. Or, use another capture method.

Turn the filter off

Tap and move the slider to 0.

Take photo with live filter

Apply a Google filter before you capture a photo.

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to Photo.
  2. Tap and select a filter.
  3. Frame your photo, then press a Volume button. Or, use another capture method.

Take spot color photos

You can take a black and white photo with spot color.

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to More and tap Spot Color.
  2. Drag to the item or area with the color to retain.
  3. Use the slider to adjust color intensity.
  4. To capture, press a Volume button. Or, use another capture method.

Take photo with blurred background

Keep the subject of your photo in focus and blur the surrounding scene as little or much as you like.

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to Portrait.
  2. For best results, stay within 1.5 meters (5 feet) of your subject. It's best if there are no objects between you and your subject.
  3. Tap and drag to increase or decrease blur surrounding the subject.
  4. Press a Volume button. Or, use another capture method.

    on the photo or its thumbnail means you can edit these effects post-capture.

  5. Optionally, edit the photo to increase or decrease blur or remove color from the background.
