Why can't Chrome download the extension?

Confirm that you have the latest version of Chrome on your computer.

  1. In Chrome on your computer, click on the toolbar.
  2. Select About Google Chrome.

Confirm that your phone is compatible with the extension, which currently supports only MOTO X, DROID ULTRA, and DROID TURBO phones that have Android KitKat 4.4 or later.

Why does the extension show no messages after signing in?

  • Check that your phone has the latest version of the Connect app and that Chrome on your computer has the latest version of the extension.
  • Check that the extension is on. Open the Connect app and select your computer. If you do not see your computer, touch on the app home screen. If the status is Disabled, then turn on Chrome extension.
  • Check that you signed into the extension on your computer with the same account that your phone is using:

    • On your phone go to the Connect app, select your computer, then look under Account in use.
    • On your computer in the extension's window, click > Settings to view the user name and account in use.
  • Background data must be enabled when using the extension. If your phone or a battery-saving app on your phone is configured to restrict background data when the battery becomes low, then charge the battery or enable background data to continue using the extension.

Can the extension update messages faster?

The extension's speed depends on the strength of your phone and computer's connection to the network.

When using a mobile data connection, the following cases can delay notifications:

  • Your carrier uses mobile data connection timeouts.
  • Your network doesn’t support a mobile data connection during incoming or live calls.
  • You have an exceptionally large amount of messages or call history to sync.

For best performance, try the following:

  • Move your phone to an area with a stronger cellular network connection or Wi-Fi connection.
  • If your computer is using a Wi-Fi connection, switch to a wired connection or move to an area where the Wi-Fi signal is stronger.
  • In the extension's window, click > Refresh all content to manually sync your messages any time.

Why did the extension stop working?

  • Check that your phone has the latest version of Connect and that Chrome on your computer has the latest version of the extension.
  • Check that your phone is on and is connected to the internet with a mobile data or Wi‑Fi connection.
  • Check that your phone and computer’s network connection signal is strong.
  • Check that the extension is on. Open the Connect app and select your computer. If the status is Disabled, then turn on Chrome extension.
  • Check that you signed into the extension on your computer with the same account that your phone is using:

    • On your phone, go to the Connect app, select your computer, then look under Account in use.
    • On your computer in the extension's window, click > Settings to view the user name and account in use.

Restart the extension:

  1. In the Connect app on your phone, select your computer. Turn off Chrome extension, then turn it on again.
  2. In the extension's window on your computer, click > Settings > Sign out.
  3. Click in the upper right corner of Chrome to restart the extension. Sign in using the same account that you are using with the Connect app.

Log out and back in:

  1. On your phone, go to Settings > Motorola ID.
  2. Touch > Unlink account, then touch OK.
  3. Touch Google account, then select or add the account to use with the extension.
  4. Start the Connect app and follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. In Chrome on your computer, use the same account to log in to the extension.

If the extension still doesn't work, remove the extension and install it again:

  1. In Chrome on your computer, click on the toolbar.
  2. Select More tools.
  3. Select Extensions.
  4. Click icon.
  5. Re-install the extension and select Enabled on the Chrome Extensions page.

How do I update the extension?

If Chrome is not using the latest extension, you can manually update extensions.

  1. In Chrome on your computer, click on the toolbar.
  2. Select More tools.
  3. Select Extensions.
  4. Check Developer mode box.
  5. Click Update extensions now button.

How do I update the Connect app?

If your phone does not upgrade apps automatically, you can upgrade the app manually.

  1. On your phone, open Play Store.
  2. Touch > My apps.
  3. On the Installed tab, scroll to the Motorola Connect app.
  4. If an update is available, touch the app name, then touch UPDATE.

Why don't I get incoming call notifications?

The extension does not show incoming call notifications on certain mobile networks and mobile technologies that don't support data and calls being active at the same time.
