Adjust settings

Get better photos

You can adjust settings to help with your photo composition.

Use grid or level for composition

  1. Tap settings icon > Capture Assistant. If you don't see settings icon, tap overflow menu icon and then settings icon.
  2. Adjust settings as needed:

    • To see a grid for better framing your shots, turn Assistive grid on toggle on switch.
    • To see a leveler, so you know when your shot is parallel to the horizon, turn Leveler on toggle on switch.

When using the camera, you'll see three white lines in the middle of the screen. To make the lines meet, rotate your phone left and right. When you're level, the lines meet and turn blue.

    • To get rid of the grid or leveler, turn them off toggle off switch.

Use mirroring for selfies

Mirroring helps you take better selfies by showing you a real-time reflection of yourself before capturing the shot – your photo looks like what you see. Here’s how it improves your selfies:

  • Better framing - See exactly how you’re positioned, ensuring your face and background are aligned perfectly.
  • Improved angles - Adjust your pose, facial expression, and posture for the most flattering look.
  • Better lighting control - Adjust your position to take advantage of natural or artificial lighting for a more polished photo.
  • More natural poses - Instead of relying on a screen, you can make small, natural adjustments in real-time, leading to more confident and relaxed photos.
  • Easier group shots - When taking selfies with friends, everyone can see their position and adjust accordingly.

Text direction in photos

When the selfie mirror is on , text, signs, and logos in the image are flipped and appear backward in your photo, as you see on the screen.
