When your phone is closed

You can do a lot on the small external display.

To wake it, lift, nudge, or tap your phone. Then you can use these gestures on the screen:

  • To see notifications, swipe up on the home panel
  • To open quick settings, swipe down on the home panel, then swipe sideways for more quick settings
  • To see other panels, on the home panel, swipe sideways

Open/close camera

Twist the phone twice quickly to open the camera. Or, press the Power button twice quickly. (If this doesn't work, set up the gesture.)

  • To change lenses, swipe up.
  • To change modes, swipe sideways.

To close the camera, press the Power button.

Answer or make calls

You can change how your phone handles calls when you flip it open/closed.

If you reject a call, you can send a quick text message from the external display.

Use information panels

When you wake and unlock the screen, you're on the home panel, where you'll see the clock. Swipe sideways to get to other panels.

Permission to sync information

Some panels, like Contacts and Calendar, require your permission to sync with the app. When you see a sync message on a panel:

  1. Tap Sync, then flip open to continue.
  2. Tap Allow.
Media
Use media controls to play, pause, and skip ahead and back.
Favorite contacts

From the Contacts panel, you can call any contact you’ve starred star icon as a favorite in the Contacts or Phone apps.

To make a call:

  1. Tap the shortcut for the contact to call.
  2. Flip open and unlock the phone.
Calendar

View events from your Calendar.

  • To view more details for an event, tap it.
  • Flip open to edit or add events and other Calendar tasks.

See the current forecast.
