Preview notifications when screen sleeps
When your screen sleeps, battery-friendly Moto Display notifications fade in and out, lighting only the pixels needed and showing notifications delivered since you last woke your screen. You can select which apps show notifications, set them to show or not during the night, and limit content to control your privacy.
Moto Display does not show notifications:
- At night, during hours you specify
- When the phone is in your pocket or purse
- When the phone is lying face down
- When you are on a call
NoteIf you don't see Moto Display notifications, make sure that
Ambient display is turned off in
Settings >
Display.
Respond to Moto Display notifications
From the lock screen, you can:
- Preview notifications.Touch & hold an icon, then slide your finger to the next to preview other notifications or a summary list.
Go directly to a notification. Drag your finger up to the target (then enter a PIN or password if using a screen lock).

View all notifications. Drag your finger down (then enter a PIN or password if using a screen lock).

Ignore for now. Drag your finger to the right or left edge of the screen to stop notifications from flashing until the next one is delivered.

TipYou can trigger Moto Display by
reaching for your phone. In your Moto Actions settings, you can control whether or not your phone responds to this gesture.
Change Moto Display settings or turn it off
- Touch
> Moto. - Touch
> Display. Do any of the following:
- To turn off Moto Display, uncheck the box.
- To choose which apps show notifications, touch Select apps.
- For more privacy when the screen is locked, touch Hide notification details.
