If you have visual impairments

The following accessibility settings make it easier to use your phone if you have visual impairments. Additionally, you can:

Make your screen easier to see

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility.
  2. Enable any of the following:

    • Magnification gesture: Triple-tap the screen to zoom in/out. While zoomed in, drag two fingers across the screen to see more. Pinch fingers together or apart to adjust the zoom.
    • Large text: Display large text in all your apps.

Hear or feel when you touch the screen

  1. Go to Settings > Sound & notification > Other sounds.
  2. Do any of the following:

    • To hear a tone when you dial a number, turn on Dial pad tones.
    • To hear a click when you lock or unlock the screen, turn on Screen locking sounds.
    • To hear a click when you touch something on the screen, turn on Touch sounds.
    • To feel a vibration when you type on the keyboard, turn on Vibrate on touch.

Hear notification sounds

You can assign a ringtone for notifications from specific apps.

You can also control sounds used to notify you of other events:

  1. Go to Settings > Sound & notification > Other sounds.
  2. To hear when your phone reaches a full charge on a wireless charger, turn Charging sounds on .

Get spoken feedback

Hear descriptions of everything you touch.

Enable TalkBack

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility.
  2. Touch TalkBack and turn it on.
  3. Touch Settings and set the options you want.

When TalkBack is on

  • Touch an item. Your phone speaks the name.
  • Start typing. Your phone speaks each number or letter.
  • Drag status bar down. Your phone speaks all of the notifications.
  • Open a message, file, or book. Your phone reads the text out loud.

Silence readout and turn off TalkBack

  1. Swipe down and right on the screen.
  2. Touch Pause feedback, then touch it again twice.
  3. Touch OK twice.
  4. Go to Settings > Accessibility.
  5. Touch TalkBack and turn it off.
