Migrate content to new phone

To migrate content to your new phone:

  1. On your old phone, install the free Motorola Migrate app. Touch > Play Store (requires a Google account) and search for “Motorola Migrate”.
  2. On your new phone, touch > Motorola Migrate and follow the onscreen instructions.
  3. When prompted to scan a QR code, hold the old phone over the new phone with the QR code inside the blue square until you see Connecting your phones.
  4. During the transfer, keep phones within 5 metres of each other. To check progress if you leave the Motorola Migrate app, open the notification shade and view the Motorola Migrate notification.
  5. Went the transfer is complete, view the migration report on the new phone, then touch Exit on both phones.

If your old phone stored contacts on a SIM, do the following:

  1. On your new phone, touch > People.
  2. Touch > Import/export > Import from storage.
  3. Select an account to associate with the contacts.
TipTo permanently erase data from the old phone, do a factory reset on the old phone.

Migrate from phone with Motorola Migrate preinstalled

If you need to replace or upgrade a phone on which Motorola Migrate is preinstalled with another phone, do the following:

  1. On the phone you are replacing, touch > Settings.
  2. Touch Choose mode > Send data FROM this device.
  3. On the new phone, start Motorola Migrate and follow the onscreen instructions.
