Create highlight reels

The Gallery app automatically combines your best photos and videos from an event into a highlight reel that you can save, customize, and share with friends. You can also manually create highlight reels when you want to combine events and reels, or when you don't have enough photos/videos for Gallery to automatically create one.

Tagging your photos and videos with location tags helps Gallery better organize your photos for highlight reels.

Save and share highlight reels

When Gallery creates a highlight reel for you, you receive a notification. Touch the notification to open the reel. If you dismiss the notification, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Gallery app.

  2. Do any:

    • View automatically created highlight reels. Touch > Highlight Reels and touch a highlight reel to view.
    • Manually create a highlight reel. Navigate to the location of items to include, touch and touch each item, then touch to create it.
    • Create a highlight reel of a tagged person. Touch > People. Touch a person’s name, then touch to create it. You must first enable face recognition.

  3. Touch a tab for editing options:

    Change the movie title, length, or quality.
    Change which photos and video clips are included.
    Add people you tagged.
    Change the song, turn off music, or include audio from video clips.
  4. Touch Save.
  5. To share immediately, touch Share and select the way to share. To share later, go to Gallery > > Highlight Reels, touch & hold the thumbnail, and touch .

Combine highlight reels

  1. Open the Gallery app.
  2. Touch > Highlight Reels.
  3. Touch and touch each highlight reel to combine into a new one.

Delete a highlight reel

  1. Open the Gallery app.
  2. Find the highlight reel and touch its thumbnail.
  3. Touch .
