Pair PC or mobile device with Smart Connect

Manually pair devices with Smart Connect by scanning a QR code, or sign in to Smart Connect with the same Lenovo ID or Motorola account on each device.

Pair with QR code

The following steps initiate the pairing process on your PC, but the steps to initiate the process on your Android device or iPhone are similar. Just follow the onscreen instructions.

  1. Connect the devices you are pairing to the same Wi-Fi network.

    If your PC is connected to Ethernet, switch to a Wi-Fi connection.

    If your PC is using a virtual private network (VPN), disconnect the VPN while pairing and using Smart Connect.

    If a Wi-Fi connection is not available, on each Android and Windows device you want to pair, open Smart Connect and go to Settings > General > Connectivity then enable Wi-Fi Direct.

  2. On your PC, open Smart Connect, go to Home tab, and click Add a device.
  3. To install Smart Connect on your phone or tablet, click Download Smart Connect app on Android or iOS, follow the onscreen instructions, then click Continue pairing to return to the QR code pairing screen.
  4. On your phone or tablet, open Smart Connect, go to Home tab, then tap + and Scan QR code. Scan the QR code shown on the Scan to pair screen on your PC.
Tips
  • To keep paired devices connected, keep devices unlocked with Smart Connect open.
  • If multiple devices are paired, click and hold them to arrange them.

Pair with account

Smart Connect automatically pairs devices with Smart Connect installed and signed into the same Lenovo ID or Motorola account.

  1. Connect the devices you are pairing to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. On each device, open Smart Connect, tap your profile icon and sign in to the same Lenovo ID or Motorola account.
  3. Tap your profile icon > Devices, and then select the devices you want to connect.

Disconnect, unpair, or hide devices

After connecting a device to Smart Connect, you can disconnect it while staying paired, unpair it to prevent auto-connecting, or hide it from the Home screen for simplicity.

Temporarily disconnect a paired device that you want to use again later:

  1. On the Home tab, select the device you want to disconnect.
  2. Tap or click Disconnect.

Unpair (forget) a paired device:

  1. Open Smart Connect on any paired device.
  2. On a PC, go to Settings > Devices, then click the unpair icon next to the device.

    On a phone or tablet, go to Settings > Devices, then tap settings icon next to the device and tap Unpair device.

Hide or show devices on Home tab:

  1. In Smart Connect on a phone or tablet, tap your profile > Devices.
  2. Select or deselect the favorite icon to show or hide a device on the Home tab (dashboard).
