Can't receive messages

If you installed an existing SIM card in your new phone and can't receive text messages on the phone, your SIM card might not be provisioned correctly.

To correct the problem:

  1. Enable CDMA-less on your SIM:

    1. Log in to Verizon’s website.
    2. Go to Account > My Devices > Activate or switch device > Activate on an existing line.
  2. If you couldn't enable CDMA-less on your SIM:

    1. Call Verizon at 1-800-922-0204 or visit a local Verizon store.
    2. Tell them you have a new phone with an existing SIM card and messaging isn't working, and ask them to add CDMA-less provisioning to your account.

You should receive recently sent messages immediately, but it could take a few hours.

Tips
  • If you switched from iPhone and can't receive messages someone sent from an iPhone, your phone number may still be associated with iMessage. You need to deregister your account.
