Fix a problem

General troubleshooting tips

For best performance, keep your Moto 5G software up to date.

When a Moto 5G software update is available to install, your phone notifies you to restart the Mod to install the update. Keep the Moto 5G attached until a notification confirms that your Moto 5G is updated.

Restarting your Moto 5G can clear up some issues. To restart it, do one of the following:

  • Remove cable from Moto 5G, then press and hold the battery check button until all four battery lights flicker.
  • Go to Settings > Moto Mods > About this Moto Mod > Restart Moto Mod.

If an issue still occurs, try Settings > Moto Mods > About this Moto Mod > Erase all data (factory reset) to reset the Moto 5G to its original condition.

SIM error detected

The Moto 5G has a non-removable SIM that must be activated before use.

To verify that SIM is provisioned:

  1. Connect Moto 5G with phone.
  2. Go to Settings > Moto Mods > About this Moto Mod > SIM Status.
