White balance helps objects that appear white in person appear white in photos by correcting for the color temperature of the light source. Slide the icon to the type of light in the scene: incandescent , fluorescent , sunny , or cloudy .
Shutter speed sets the length of time the image sensor is exposed to light. Slower shutter speeds let in more light, which brightens photos, and blurs moving objects. Faster shutter speeds let in less light, which darkens photos, and stops moving objects.
ISO controls the light sensitivity of the image sensor. A lower ISO takes darker photos, with finer grain and less noise. A higher ISO takes brighter photos, with more noise, which is good for indoor photos, scenes with dim lighting, and for capturing moving objects without motion blur.
Exposure compensation makes photos dimmer or brighter. Increasing the exposure compensation brightens photos, which is useful for photographing subjects in front of a bright background. Lowering exposure compensation darkens photos, but captures more detail.
