Record videos

Record a video

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to Video.
  2. If needed, choose the type of video to record:

    • To record a selfie video, tap switch cameras icon.
    • To record a Slow Motion video, a Timelapse video, or other type of video, swipe sideways to More.
  3. If needed, adjust video settings.

  4. To start recording, press a Volume button or tap record icon.
  5. While recording, you can:

    • Take a photo. Tap .
    • Pause recording. Tap .
  6. To stop recording, press a Volume button or tap stop-recording icon.
  7. To watch your video, tap the thumbnail preview at bottom. Then:

    • To view all thumbnails, tap the screen, then tap to open the Photos app.
    • To view videos or photos later, open the Photos app or other photo app you installed.

You can also use voice commands to start capturing video, even when your phone is locked.

Record dual videos

To record one video using two cameras (selfie + one of the rear cameras):

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to More and tap Dual Capture Video.
  2. Review the preview and adjust as needed:

    • To swap placement of videos (top/bottom), tap .
    • To switch from the 1X main camera to another rear camera, tap a different option.
    • To change layout, tap split screen or picture-in-picture .
  3. To start recording, press a Volume button or tap record icon.

Record a spot-color video

Not available on moto g75 5G, moto g - 2025, moto g power - 2025.
  1. Swipe the modes sideways to More and tap Spot Color.
  2. Move the color picker to the color you want to keep. The selected color appears on and in the video, and the rest of the image turns black and white.
  3. Use the slider to adjust color intensity.
  4. To start recording, press a Volume button or tap record icon on the screen.
  5. To switch to a different color while recording, move to the new color.

Record a slow-motion video

For best results, use natural lighting when shooting slow-motion videos. LED light may flicker in slow-motion videos.

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to Slow Motion.

  2. moto g75 5G: To record in super slow motion, tap the fps rate and select the highest rate.
  3. To start recording, press a Volume button or tap on the screen.
  4. To stop recording, press a Volume button or tap .
  5. Tap the thumbnail to open the video.
  6. Use the sliders to surround the frames to play in slow-motion. Or, surround all frames to play the entire video in slow-motion. You can reposition the sliders any time you play the video.

If you don’t want slow motion in the video, move the sliders together to play at normal speed.

Record a timelapse video

  1. Attach a tripod or set up your phone so that it can’t move while you record.
  2. Swipe the modes sideways to More and tap Timelapse.
  3. Tap , then use the slider to select the speed multiplier. In general, use a faster speed for longer videos.
  4. To start recording, press a Volume button or tap record icon on the screen.

    You’ll see two counters, one that shows the duration of the recording and another that shows the duration the video will play when sped up.

  5. To stop recording, press a Volume button or tap stop-recording icon.

Video settings

  1. Before recording a video, you can adjust these settings on the Video mode screen:

    • Turn light on or off .
    • To reduce blur from your moving while recording, turn stablization on . (Not available on moto g - 2025.)
    • Turn sound on active microphone or mute it inactive microphone. (moto g85 5G)
    • To change the aspect ratio, tap the current value and select the new ratio. 16:9 is the aspect ratio of most high-definition monitors and TVs.
    • To change video resolution, tap the current value and select the new resolution. Lower resolution videos take up less space, but have lower image quality. (moto g stylus 5G - 2024)
  2. moto g stylus 5G - 2024: For more video settings, swipe down from the top of the screen in Video mode and you'll see:

    • For frame rate, tap the current value and select the new rate. 30fps is often used for live broadcasts. A higher frame rate captures more images per second, so motion looks smoother.
    • Turn sound on active microphone or mute it inactive microphone.
  3. For even more video settings, tap settings icon and you'll see:

    • To reduce file size for streaming or broadcasting, turn on Efficient videos.
    • To focus the audio where your video is zooming into and amplify that sound, turn on AI Audio > Audio Zoom. The more you zoom in, the clearer the audio is.
