Take active photos

Save seconds of video before and after you capture a photo.

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to Photo.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen and select an option:

    turns active photos on for all photos

    saves video only when motion is detected

  3. Frame your photo, then press a Volume button. Or, use another capture method.
  4. To view the clip, open the photo in the Camera or Photos app and tap .

Take moving cinemagraphs

Create a splash of motion on a frozen image.

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to More and tap Cinemagraph.
  2. Hold the phone steady.
  3. Touch & hold to capture the scene.
  4. The camera suggests a portion of the scene to keep in motion or freeze. To change these settings:

    • Tap , then swipe over the part to keep in motion.
    • Tap , then swipe over the part to freeze.
  5. To edit the frames used, adjust the sliders.
  6. To change the style of loop, tap the style shown:

    • Regular loop repeats the loop from start to end.
    • Bounce loop repeats the loop from start to end, then reverses the action.
  7. Tap PREVIEW to view the cinemagraph, then do one of the following:

    • Choose whether to save it as GIF or MP4, then tap SAVE.
    • To reverse your changes, tap CLEAR.
    • To discard without saving, tap .
