Switch camera lenses

On the viewfinder, touch the icon (not available on moto g9 play) to switch cameras.

Standard Good in any setting. Use in challenging lighting situations.
Telephoto Get extreme details at a distance. Use for high-res zoom and crisp close-ups. (motorola edge, motorola edge+)
Ultra-wide Capture more of the scene than with the standard lens. Use for architectural and landscape photography.

To switch to the macro camera for up-close detail, touch > Macro.

Take a panoramic photo

  1. On the viewfinder, touch > Panorama.
  2. Frame one side of the scene.
  3. Touch , then slowly pan horizontally or vertically across the scene. Keep your motion smooth and use a steady speed.
  4. When you reach the end of your scene, touch .

To view panoramas:

  1. In the Photos app, you'll see on thumbnails of images when you can use immersive view.

    Touch the thumbnail to open the photo.

  2. Touch on the photo, then do any of the following:

    • To move the photo around with your finger, touch .
    • To experience the scene as if it were surrounding you, touch and move your phone around you.

Use macro lens for up-close detail

Use the dedicated macro lens for up-close shots with vivid detail of your subject and a naturally blurred background thanks to the very short focal length. Capture every detail in nature or small, fine objects like jewelry.

Easily switch to Macro mode, or let Shot optimization detect and prompt you when you’re the right distance from your subject.

To switch to Macro mode:

  1. On the viewfinder, touch > Macro.
  2. Get close to your subject (up to 2cm away).
  3. Move the focus ring if desired.
  4. Touch .

Use ultra-res to zoom later

When you capture a scene using ultra-resolution mode on the main camera, you can pinch to zoom into any area of your photo for amazing detail.

Ultra high-resolution photos:

  • Work best with outdoor lighting.
  • Have more pixels and are larger in file size.
  • Are great if you want to print the image.
  • Can be cropped to create many detailed photos from the single image.

To take an ultra high-resolution photo:

  1. On the viewfinder, touch > Ultra-Res.
  2. Touch the screen where you want the focus and drag the ring if needed.
  3. Touch .

Adjust resolution and aspect ratio

Before taking a photo, you can adjust the file size (resolution) and the image dimensions (aspect ratio).

Lower resolution photos and videos take up less space, but have lower image quality.

  1. On the viewfinder, touch Settings.
  2. Touch Photo size for the front (selfie) or rear camera.
  3. Select size to use for new photos:

    • To display pictures that fill your HDTV or widescreen monitor without cropping, use 16:9 widescreen mode.
    • To print 5"x7" or 8"x10" photos, use 4:3 standard mode.
    • In general, use smaller file sizes (MP) for photos you'll share; use larger sizes for photos you'll print or edit.
TipFor the highest quality photos that allow you to crop in close or blow up to a large size without losing clarity, switch to Ultra-Res mode.
