Take active photos

Save seconds of video before and after you capture a photo.

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to Photo.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen and select an option:

    turns active photos on for all photos

    turns active photos off

  3. Frame your photo, then press a Volume button. Or, use another capture method.
  4. To view the clip, open the photo in the Camera or Photos app and tap .

Take better action shots of people and pets

Use AI to capture blur free photos. Action Shot helps capture smiling, running, and jumping people, as well as cats and dogs. Before you capture a shot, if it detects your subject moving, it will adjust the shutter speed accordingly.

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to Photos.
  2. On the screen, tap . This turns it on .

    When it's on , AI controls your camera settings, and you won’t be able to change flash or other settings that affect shutter speed.

To turn it off, just tap .

Prevent closed eyes in group shots

When three or more faces are in view, you can use Group Shot to capture consecutive photos that blend together to remove any blinks, delivering your image with everyone looking at the camera

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to More and tap Group Shot.
  2. Select the lens you want to use.
  3. Frame your photo, then press a Volume button. Or, use another capture method.

Use Photo Booth mode

Capture 4 photos in a row with 3 seconds in between.

  1. Swipe the modes sideways to More and tap Photo Booth.
  2. Frame yourself (and your friends).
  3. Optionally:

  4. Tap shutter icon to start capturing.

Create a collage

  1. Open the Photos app and go to the Photos tab.
  2. Touch & hold the first of the four photos, then tap others to select them.
  3. Tap plus icon > Collage. Optionally:

    • Tap a photo to edit or replace it with another.
    • Pinch to zoom in/out.
    • To rearrange photo order, touch & hold a photo, then drag it.
    • Tap options at the bottom of the screen to change the layout or add a style.
  4. Tap Save.
