Motorola develops the bootloader, code that tells your phone's operating system how to boot up, ensuring that your phone has a fully optimized, certified and tested version of Android.

If you are a developer, unlocking the bootloader will allow you to customize your phone.

Before you begin, consider that:

• You will lose all media and content on your phone and will need to reinstall all applications downloaded from Play Store.
• Applications might not work anymore.
• You might lose encryption support.
• You could lose key functionality like telephone, radio, and audio playback.
• You could cause permanent/physical damage to your phone.
• Unlocking your bootloader won't change your phone's subsidy lock status.
