Types of voice commands

Not all languages support voice commands.
Command Description
“Show me” Open apps. Get instant information without intermediate screens; see the weather or your calendar, then touch the screen for more or let it fade away in seconds.
“OK, Google” Perform more complex tasks. Search for information on the web, send messages, set alarms, play your favorite song, and more.
“Alexa” If you have an Amazon account, log in and then ask Alexa to tell you the news, check weather, control your smart home, and more.

“Show me” commands

Use these simple commands to get information you need without intermediate screens.

Set up voice recognition

For best results:

  • Use a quiet room with no other people around.
  • Avoid rooms that echo, like bathrooms and garages.
  • Avoid pauses.
  • Use the same intonation each time.

To set it up:

  1. Open the Moto app.

    The first time you use Moto Voice, you are prompted to set up the “Show me” phrase.

  2. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Use commands

  1. Say a command:

    • Show me the calendar
    • Show me my next meeting
    • Show me my schedule
    • Show me the weather
    • Show me [app name]

    A screen with results displays for 5 seconds.

  2. Do any of the following:

    • Swipe left or right to dismiss the screen.
    • Touch the screen to see more information.
    • Touch & hold the screen to view for an extended time.
    • Swipe an app icon down to open the app.

Turn it off

  1. Open the Moto app.
  2. Touch Features > Moto Voice > Set up Voice.
  3. Turn Voice control off .

“OK, Google” commands

Use these commands to do just about anything.

Set up voice recognition

Touch & hold and follow the onscreen instructions to turn on Google Assistant and train it to recognize your voice.

Use commands

  1. Say “OK, Google” or touch & hold .
  2. Wait for the phone to respond.
  3. Say a command (for example, “Call Elise” or “Set alarm for 7am tomorrow”).

To see a full list of commands, say “What can you do?”

Turn it off

  1. Open the Google app.
  2. Touch More > Settings > Voice > Voice Match.
  3. Turn Access with Voice Match off .

“Alexa” commands

This feature is not available in all countries.

Set up voice recognition

  1. Open the Moto Voice for Alexa app.
  2. Turn Hands-Free on .
  3. Follow onscreen instructions to train Alexa to recognize your voice.

When Alexa is active, you’ll see in the status bar.

To re-record your voice at any time:

  1. Open the Moto Voice for Alexa app.
  2. Touch Additional Moto Voice for Alexa Settings > Retrain Moto Voice for Alexa.

Use commands

Do any of the following:

  • Say “Alexa” and give a command, such as “Alexa, what's the weather?”
  • Open the Amazon Alexa app, touch , and say a command.

Turn it off

  1. Open the Moto Voice for Alexa app.
  2. Turn Hands-Free off .

Fix an issue

If your phone isn't recognizing “Show me” commands:

  1. Open the Moto app.
  2. Touch Features > Moto Voice > Set up Voice > Change or improve voice enrollment.
  3. Set it up again.

If your phone isn't recognizing “OK, Google” commands:

  1. Open the Google app.
  2. Touch your profile icon > Settings > Voice.
  3. Touch Voice Match > Voice model.
  4. Touch Retrain voice model.
