External display

In Settings, you can adjust what is shown on the external display and what happens when you flip the phone open or closed. You can also make some quick changes directly from the external display.

Change animated clockface

  1. Go to Settings > External display > Lock screen clockfaces.

    Or, unlock the external display, touch & hold its home screen, then touch Lock screen clockface.

  2. Select a design and any included options, like color .

Change the wallpaper

  1. Go to Settings > External display > Home screen wallpapers.

    Or, unlock the external display, touch & hold its home screen, then touch Wallpapers & shortcuts.

  2. Set the wallpaper:

    • Select a design.
    • Or, to use a photo, touch plus icon, drag the photo to position it behind the preview frame, then touch Set.

Change information panels

When your phone is unlocked, swipe the external display to move between panels of information. You can also tap shortcuts to jump directly to a panel.

Add, reorder, remove panels

Go to Settings > External display > Panels, then:

  • Add or remove panels by turning them on toggle on switch or off toggle off switch.
  • To reorder panels, drag a panel, then release in its new position.

To quickly rearrange panels, unlock the external display, touch & hold its home screen, then tap Manage panels.

Add/remove apps on Apps panel

  1. Unlock and swipe to the Apps panel.
  2. Tap edit icon.
  3. Check apps to add them. Uncheck apps to remove them.
  4. When done, tap .

Add/remove contact shortcuts

  1. Unlock and swipe to the Contacts panel.

  2. Adjust shortcuts:

    • To add one, tap edit icon, select the type, then select the contact.
    • To remove one, touch & hold it, then tap .

Change display or font size

  1. Go to Settings > External display.
  2. Tap Display & Font Size.
  3. On the External tab, move the sliders or tap +/- to adjust sizes.

Allow app transition from internal to external display

When you flip the phone closed, your screen automatically locks, and when you unlock the external display, you are back on its home screen. If you want to keep the external display unlocked and continue using the app on it, then set the app to transition.

  1. Go to Settings > External display.
  2. Tap App settings.
  3. Next to the app name, tap settings icon.

  4. Select how you want the app to transition between screens when you flip the phone closed:

    • To slide the app's icon on the external display to continue using the app after you flip closed, turn Manual transition on toggle on switch.
    • To automatically see the app on the external display after you flip closed, turn Auto transition on toggle on switch.

Change what happens to calls when you open or close phone

Flip your phone open to answer an incoming call, and close it to end a call.

To change how your phone handles calls:

  1. Go to Settings > External display > Call settings.

  2. Adjust settings:

    • If you don’t want to automatically answer a call when you flip your phone open, turn Flip open to answer off .
    • Set Flip close action to either disconnect or continue the call when you close the phone.
