Handwrite text

Convert handwriting to typed text as you write.

  1. Open the onscreen keyboard in any app, then tap > Write in text fields and enable Use stylus to write in text fields.

  2. Write with your pen.

    Pausing or starting a new line converts your handwriting to text.

When you use a pen to write directly into a text box (rather than on the keyboard itself), a small floating toolbar appears near where you are writing. This bar provides quick access to functions that would normally be on the full keyboard:

Emoji picker: Opens a small floating window for emojis.

Enter/new line: A dedicated button to jump to the next line.

Delete: A quick-tap backspace.

Menu: Provides shortcuts to settings, the clipboard, Google Translate, and the option to bring back the full on-screen keyboard. Tap Try handwriting demo to learn gestures to delete, select, insert, join/split, and start a new line.

Hover to magnify

Hover your pen over the screen to enlarge that area.

  1. Tap Hover to magnify on the pen toolbar. If you don’t see this option, add it.
  2. Hover over what you want to magnify. Tap the screen to turn magnification off.

Mark up and share a screenshot

  1. From any screen on your phone, open the pen toolbar and select the Annotate tool.
  2. Draw on your screen using the pen, highlight, and erase tools at the bottom. To crop the screen, go to more options icon and tap Crop.
  3. Tap Share or Quickshare to share the annotated image with someone.

Add text and images from other apps into Notes

Highlight text in a browser or email using your pen, then tap Add to note.

Drag images from another app in split screen or copy and paste them into your note.

Create image from sketch

Transform your sketch into an image.

  1. Tap Sketch to image on the pen toolbar. If you don’t see this option, add it.
  2. If prompted, sign in to your Moto Account or create an account, then follow the prompts.
  3. Use your finger or pen with the onscreen tools to draw a sketch.

  4. Select a style:

    • Watercolor transforms your sketch into a watercolor painting with soft tones and a gentle, artistic feel.
    • Realistic transforms your sketch into a highly realistic image with precise details, making it look like a real photo or painting.
    • Sketch Cleanup enhances your sketch by cleaning up lines and details, improving clarity while preserving its original style.
    • Abstract Ink applies bold black strokes and color accents to your sketch, creating a minimalist, artistic version that still feels raw and expressive.
  5. Tap Generate.
  6. Tap Redo to generate a new image, or copy, save, or share it.
