Adjust screen brightness

To set your screen's brightness, open quick settings and slide .

Your phone automatically adjusts your screen to the light around you, with Adaptive brightness. When the feature is on, you can still fine tune the brightness in quick settings. To turn this feature off:

  1. Go to Settings > Display.
  2. Turn Adaptive brightness off.
Tips
  • If the lowest setting on the slider is still too bright, you can make the screen extra dim.
  • If Adaptive brightness stops working as desired, you can reset it to retrain the system.

If the brightness slider in quick settings doesn’t go high enough, you can make your screen extra bright.

Use extra brightness when you:

  • Are in direct sunlight and want to see through heavy glare
  • Review or edit photos and videos on location and want to check for accurate exposure and detail
  • View movies or games and want to see the peak highlights and full color depth
  • Need emergency visibility and want to use the screen as a temporary light source (alternative to the flashlight), or remain visible in high-contrast environments

The bump in brightness uses a lot of battery power (and can cause eye strain in darker environments), so when you don’t need extra brightness, turn it off.

To adjust this setting:

  1. Go to Settings > Display.
  2. Turn Extra brightness on toggle on switch or off toggle off switch.

You can also make the screen extra dim if the slider in quick settings doesn't go low enough.
