Manage dual SIMs

About dual SIMs

When two SIMs are inserted:

  • You see two sim icon at the top of the home screen. If you see no-sim-inserted icon, troubleshoot the issue.
  • Both SIMs can make and receive calls and text messages.
  • Only the owner of the phone (not additional users or guests) can access dual SIM settings.

Temporarily turn SIM off

Sometimes, you might need to temporarily disconnect your SIM card from the mobile network, like when you’re traveling, have privacy concerns, or are troubleshooting network issues. You can do this in Settings by turning the SIM card off and back on when you’re ready to use it again.

Remember that turning off your SIM card disconnects you from the mobile network, so you won't be able to make or receive calls, send or receive messages, or use mobile data with that SIM card until you turn it back on.

  1. Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIM cards.
  2. Next to the SIM name, turn the SIM off or on .

Set up SIMs

You can specify which SIM to use for mobile data, calls, and text messages:

  1. Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIM cards.
  2. Tap Mobile data and select the SIM to use.
  3. Tap Allow calls, then select a SIM or choose Ask every time.
  4. Tap SMS messages, then select a SIM or choose Ask every time.

Change SIM names and color

When two SIMs are inserted, you'll see them referenced in apps like Contacts, Messages, and Phone. To tell them apart more easily, change the default names (SIM1/SIM2) to more meaningful names. You can also change SIM icon color to make them easy to differentiate.

  1. Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIM cards.
  2. Tap the SIM to change.
  3. Change settings as needed.
