Encrypt your phone

Before you begin, consider that:

• Encryption can take an hour or more. You must start with a charged battery and leave your phone plugged in. Do not interupt the process.
• Encryption requires a PIN or password when you turn the phone on. This is separate from a PIN or password to unlock the screen.
• If you forget your encryption PIN or password, you cannot recover data stored on your phone or memory card.

To encrypt your phone:

1. Go to Settings > Security.
2. Touch Encrypt phone.
