Train launch phrase

For best results:

  • Use a quiet room with no other people around.
  • Avoid rooms that echo, like bathrooms and garages.
  • Use a phrase that includes four or more syllables. You can also use a whistle as your launch phrase.
  • Avoid pauses.
  • Use the same intonation each time.

To set up your launch phrase:

  1. Open the Moto app.
  2. The first time you use Moto Voice, you are prompted to train the launch phrase. Follow the onscreen instructions.

To change your launch phrase any time, or to view your reminder if you forget your launch phrase:

  1. Open the Moto app.
  2. Touch > Voice > Manage launch phrase.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Speak a command

Not all languages support voice commands.

Tell your phone to call people, get directions, send messages and set alarms. The possibilities are enormous.

  1. Say your launch phrase.

    • If you want to be hands-free, project your voice and hear results through the phone's speaker.
    • If you want to be discrete, lift your phone before saying your launch phrase quietly, then hear spoken information through the earpiece.
  2. When the phone responds, say the command (for example, ‘Call Elise’ or ‘Set alarm for 7 AM tomorrow’).

  3. Some commands cause your phone to speak a response to you. To stop the phone from speaking, touch or .

Unlock screen automatically

Moto Voice allows you to command your phone with your voice without unlocking it for secure features available from the lock screen, like making a call or taking a picture.

You can also command your phone to perform less secure functions, which your phone starts and completes after you unlock the screen.
