Extend battery life

To get the most life from your battery, choose settings that use less battery:

Temporarily conserve battery power

Use Battery Saver mode to keep going on a low battery.

Also, avoid these battery-intensive activities until you can charge:

  • Recording or watching videos
  • Listening to music
  • Taking pictures
  • Using Live (animated) wallpaper

See what’s using your battery

To see if a specific app is draining your battery:

  1. Open Settings and touch Battery.
  2. Review the list to see power used by apps or features since the last full charge.
  3. Touch the app or feature using a lot of power.
  4. Under Adjust power use, touch options for reducing the power usage.

You can also see what phone features are using your battery.

Keep battery optimization on

To ensure that apps use your battery only when they need to, keep battery optimization on for all apps.

When battery optimization is on, Android monitors how much apps use the battery, and minimizes their battery usage when:

  • You aren’t using your phone.
  • You haven’t used an app for a few days.

To check that battery optimization is on:

  1. Open Settings and touch Battery.
  2. Touch > Battery optimization.
  3. If an app is listed as Not optimized:

    1. Touch the app.
    2. Touch Optimize > Done.
