Make calls

You can place calls from:

TipIf you have a dual SIM phone, you select which SIM to use for outgoing calls.

The basics

  1. Touch .
  2. Touch and enter a number.
  3. If you enter a wrong number, touch .
  4. Touch to call the number.
  5. To hang up, touch .

Beyond the basics

  1. Touch .
  2. Place a call by doing any of the following:

    • To dial by voice, touch and say a name or number. (Or, skip the Phone app entirely and use a voice command to call someone.)
    • To call someone by name, start typing the name in the search box. You'll see a list of possible matches. Just touch one to call.
    • To dial a number, touch , enter a number and touch . If you enter a wrong number, touch .

    • To scroll through contacts and touch a number to call, touch . (If the dialer is open, swipe down to see the tab.)
    • To call contacts that you've starred, touch the tab.
    • To return a call, touch , then touch next to the number.
  3. During a call, you can use the keypad to enter numbers or codes, use speakerphone or a paired Bluetooth device, and add other people to the call. Learn more.
  4. To hang up, touch .
Tips
  • To call frequent numbers with one touch from your home screen, add a Direct dial widget.
  • You can save a recent call as a contact.
  • To change your caller ID information seen by people receiving your calls, contact your carrier.

Change default calling app

You can download additional calling apps from Play Store. After you've installed one, you can make it your default calling app.

  1. Go to Settings > Apps.
  2. Touch > Default Apps > Phone app.
  3. Touch the app to use.
