Set up email

To read and send emails from any email account provider, set up your account in the Gmail or Email app. You can add multiple email accounts of the following types in either app:

NoteIf you set up an account on your phone, when you open the Gmail app for the first time, you'll see your email for that account.

Set up personal email

If you need to add a non-Google account:

  1. Touch > Email.
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions to enter your email address, password, and account options.
TipTo set up additional email accounts, open Email and touch > Settings > Add account.

For most email accounts, that's all you need to do. But, if that isn't successful, you'll need to contact your email provider to get this information:

  • Server type (POP or IMAP)
  • Address and port number for incoming and outgoing server
  • Security type and certificate acceptance for incoming and outgoing server

Then, touch Manual setup when setting up your account.

Set up corporate email

If you use Microsoft Office Outlook on your work computer, your phone can synchronize emails, calendar events, and contacts with the Microsoft Exchange server. Before you start, you'll need the following information from your company's IT department:

  • Email address
  • Email password
  • Domain name
  • Username
  • Server name
  • Security type/SSL settings
  • Client certificate requirement

To set up corporate email:

  1. Enter your email address and touch Manual setup.

    TipTo set up additional email accounts, open Email and touch > Settings > Add account.
  2. Touch Exchange.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to enter your password and other information from your company's IT department.

View multiple accounts in one inbox

To change your inbox view, next to the email account name, touch and select a single account or a combined view.
