Take photos

Capture moments before they pass by. Your camera has features and settings that provide clearer, more detailed and more vibrant photos.

You can also take screenshots.

Open the camera

Do any of the following:

  • Touch > Camera.
  • Use your voice. From any screen, say your launch phrase and then say ‘Take a photo’.
  • From the lock screen, swipe left.

Take a photo

  1. If needed, adjust settings such as HDR or photo size.
  2. Frame your subject:

    • To zoom, drag the viewfinder up and down.
    • To change the focus location, drag the focus ring. (You must first turn on in camera settings.)
    • Your phone doesn't have a flash, so make sure you have sufficient light.
    • To change the exposure, slide the control on the focus ring to lighten or darken the shot.

  3. To take the photo, do one of the following:

    • Touch anywhere on the viewfinder.
    • Touch & hold the viewfinder to take a rapid series of photos.
    • Swipe the viewfinder right and touch for a timer.
  4. Swipe left to review your photos and videos:

    • To return to Gallery from an open image or video, touch the screen, then touch .
    • To view photos and videos later, open the Gallery or Photos app.

Take a panoramic photo

  1. Swipe the viewfinder right and touch .
  2. Frame one side of the scene for your panorama.
  3. Touch the screen anywhere and, when prompted, slowly start panning across the scene. Keep your motion smooth and use a steady speed.
  4. When you reach the end of your scene, touch .

Share a photo you've just taken

  1. Swipe the viewfinder screen to the left, and touch the photo to share.
  2. Touch .
  3. Select the way you want to share.

All photos are taken at full resolution. When you attach one to a text message, the file is automatically downsized.
