Encrypt phone
Before you begin, consider that:
- Encryption can take an hour or more. Leave your phone plugged in and do not interupt the process.
- Encryption requires a PIN or password when you turn the phone on. This is separate from a PIN or password to unlock the screen.
- If you forget your encryption PIN or password, you cannot recover data stored on your phone or memory card.
To encrypt your phone:
- Go to Settings > Security & Screen Lock.
- Touch Encrypt phone.
