Use phone hands-free while driving

When you’re driving, let Assist automatically switch your phone to hands-free mode.

While you stay focused on the road, your phone will:

NoteAssist announces callers and reads text messages only from people who are contacts on your phone.

To set up:

  1. Touch > Assist.
  2. Touch Driving.
  3. Check Talk to me.
TipIf you're having difficulty with the sound quality of the readout, touch > Having audio issues using Bluetooth?  and choose a different audio channel.

Assist uses your phone's accelerometer and location data to determine if you’re driving. If you are a passenger or riding a bus or train, you can view the notification and touch I'm not driving. Your settings resume the next time you drive.

If your phone is connected with a Bluetooth device, Assist allows the Bluetooth device to handle incoming calls. In this case, you can use your Bluetooth device to announce incoming calls if it supports this feature.
