Your phone has independent settings for these volumes:
- Ringtone for incoming calls and notifications
- Media (music, video, games)
- Alarm
- Call
Adjusting one volume won't affect the others, so you can crank up the tunes without making incoming callers sound like they’re shouting.
Silence your phone
If your phone is ringing:
- To silence it and stop vibration, with your palm facing down, wave your hand over the screen. Or, press the Power or Volume Down button.
- Or, press the Power or Volume Down button.
To prevent your phone from ringing:
- To silence your phone (no ringing or vibrating) for an amount of time you specify, press the Volume Down button, then touch None and set the duration (e.g. the next 30 minutes). Not even alarms will sound.
- To switch to vibrate-only mode, press the Volume Down button and touch
. You'll see
. There is no silent mode. - To automatically silence your phone during a certain time (e.g. every Tuesday from 11:00 to noon), set your downtime.
Use Volume buttons
Use the Volume buttons on the side of your phone:
- To adjust call volume while on a call.
- To adjust media volume when playing a song, video, or game.
- To adjust ringtone volume when you are not on a call or playing media.
Use phone settings
You can also use phone settings to adjust volumes:
- Go to Settings.
- Touch Sound & notification.
- Touch and drag to adjust each volume setting as needed.
