Change type of screen lock

To change the type of security required to unlock your phone after it goes to sleep:

  1. Go to Settings > Security.
  2. Touch Screen lock and select the type of lock you want:

    • None: Turns off screen locks.
    • Slide: prevents accidental dialling but doesn't secure the phone. Touch and drag to . Do not select this if you want to use a trusted Bluetooth device.

    • Face Unlock: Use facial recognition. If your phone doesn't recognise your face, you can enter your backup pattern or PIN.
    • Pattern: Draw a pattern on a grid.
    • PIN: Enter a four to sixteen digit numeric code.
    • Password: Enter 4–16 letters, digits or symbols for the password.

You can also define a trusted Bluetooth device, which allows your phone to remain unlocked while connected to it.

Hide your PIN, password, or pattern

You can hide password to prevent others from viewing it while you unlock your screen.

  1. Go to Settings > Security.
  2. Turn Make pattern visible or Make passwords visible off.

If you have forgotten your screen lock

If you forget your screen lock and you set up a Motorola ID, from a computer go to motorola.com/support and use the lost phone features to reset your screen lock.

If your phone is using a Google account, you can also reset your screen lock by going to google.com/android/devicemanager from a computer.
