Use accessibility features

Accessibility features make it easier to use your phone if you have visual impairments.

Turn accessibility on/off

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility.
  2. Touch to turn on/off accessibility features, such as:

    • Magnification gestures: Triple-tap the screen to zoom in/out. While zoomed in, drag two fingers across the screen to see more. Pinch fingers together or apart to adjust the zoom.
    • Large text: Display large text in all your apps.
    • TalkBack: Hear descriptions of everything that you touch.

About TalkBack and Explore by touch

TalkBack describes everything that you touch, select, or activate. You can set options to adjust the volume of the TalkBack voice or turn on feedback (sound or vibration) for touches.

Another option is to use TalkBack with Explore by touch. This changes how the phone responds to your touch, so you need to learn new ways to navigate the phone. When you touch an app or icon, you first hear the name of the item. Then you can decide whether or not to use it.

Set TalkBack options

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility.
  2. Touch TalkBack and turn it on.
  3. Touch Settings and set the options you want:

    • Speech volume to make the TalkBack voice quieter.
    • Speak caller ID to hear who’s calling.
    • Sound feedback and Vibration feedback to get more feedback for touches.
    • Manage gestures to learn about using gestures to navigate your phone. Also, customize by assigning preferred actions or buttons to gestures.
    • Explore by touch to hear information before using items.

Tips for using Explore by touch

Turn off Explore by touch

If TalkBack is active:

  1. Use the touch + double-touch system to navigate to > Settings.
  2. Navigate to Accessibility > TalkBack > Settings and uncheck Explore by touch.
