Use the Moto Note and Coloring book apps

Jot a quick note with the stylus

If your phone is locked

Write and save a quick note, no unlocking required.

  1. Remove the stylus.

  2. Write or draw your note. Learn more.

    To move the page, use two fingers to drag the page.

  3. Touch to save the note in Moto Note.

To save the note to another app or share it, you’ll need to unlock the phone. Touch more options icon > Share, then unlock and select an option.

If your phone is unlocked

  1. Remove the stylus.
  2. Tap on the stylus menu.

  3. Write or draw your note. Learn more.

    To move the page, use two fingers to drag the page.

  4. Save your note:

    • To save it to Moto Note, touch .
    • To save it to another app or share it, touch more options icon > Share, then select an option.

Organize, find, delete notes

In the Moto Note app , you can categorize and label notes to find them easily, and delete old notes.

Add or edit titles

  1. Open the note.
  2. Swipe down with two fingers.

  3. Tap Title and type a title.

    Or, tap the current title to edit it.

Categorize notes

To categorize a saved note:

  1. Open the note.
  2. Swipe down with two fingers.
  3. Tap Uncategorized and select a category (To-do, Personal, Work) or tap New to create another.

To categorize a note when you create it:

  1. Tap menu icon to see the categories.
  2. Tap the category.
  3. Tap to create the note.

Find notes

To view notes by category, tap menu icon and select the category.

To search for a note:

  1. Tap menu icon and select All notes or a specific category to search.

  2. Tap and type a word from the title or content.

    Notes containing the word appear as you type.

  3. Tap a note to open it.

Delete notes or categories

To delete a note you haven't yet saved, tap and Discard.

To delete saved notes:

  1. Touch & hold the first note to delete, then tap any others to select them.
  2. Tap delete icon.

To delete a category you created:

  1. Tap menu icon > Manage categories.

  2. Tap delete icon.

    This doesn't delete any notes. It just moves them to Uncategorized.

Color and draw with Coloring book

Use the Coloring book to color pictures and to create coloring templates by drawing them or converting photos.

Color a picture

  1. Touch on the stylus menu.

  2. Select an image from the Library tab.
  3. Use the coloring book tools to color and erase.

  4. When you're done:

    • To save the image to Projects, touch .
    • To save it to another app or share it, touch .
    • To discard it, touch .

Make line drawing

To convert one of your photos or an image into a line drawing that you can trace, color, or both:

  1. Touch on the stylus menu.
  2. Touch > .
  3. Select an image, then touch Convert to template.
  4. Change the line intensity by touching Light lines or Dark lines.

  5. When you're done:

    • To save it, touch Add to library. Then you can open it from the Library tab and color it.
    • To discard it, touch Cancel.

Draw with assistance (AI)

To create a line drawing, with help from AI, that you can then color:

  1. Touch on the stylus menu.
  2. Touch > .

  3. Start drawing a figure.

    Your phone will guess what you're drawing and suggest images to use.

  4. Select a suggested image and:

    • Drag the image to the desired position.
    • Drag a corner to rotate or resize the image.
    • Touch to remove it.
  5. To save it, touch . Then you can open it from the Library tab and color it.

Delete an image

  1. Touch on the stylus menu.
  2. Touch the Library or Projects tab.

  3. Touch & hold an image to delete.

    If you want to delete multiple images, touch them.

  4. Touch delete icon.

Tools to write, draw, or erase

When you're using Moto Note or Coloring book, you have several writing tools, and can edit and erase.

Change tools

To use tools, touch an icon. Touch it again to adjust related options, like drawing tool, stroke thickness, color, pattern, or eraser size.

Straightedge to draw lines and check angles (Use two fingers to move or rotate it.)
Show/hide line drawing behind tracing or coloring (Coloring book)

Add images, audio, and more

In Coloring book, touch / to show or hide the line drawing behind the tracing or coloring.

In Moto Note, you can add these elements.

  • Images captured from the note or previously
  • Text boxes you can reposition and resize
  • Audio recorded right from the note
  • Background colors and patterns

Edit

  • Touch to undo your last stroke.
  • Touch to redo your last erased stroke.

Erase

To erase with the stylus:

  • To erase an area, touch and go over the area.
  • To erase everything, touch twice > Clear all.

If you want to use your finger to erase instead of switching the stylus to the eraser tool, touch twice to open eraser options, then turn Finger eraser on toggle on switch.
