Automate settings with Assist

Use Assist to automate your phone settings and responses when you’re driving, during events you've added to your calendar, when you're busy at home and want to be hands-free, and when you're sleeping.

You can customise Assist activities with your preferences:

Set up activities

When you customise the activities, Assist begins adjusting your phone settings based on your selected options, driving speed, calendar events, location, and other information approved in the privacy policy.

To customise activities:

  1. Touch > Assist.
  2. Scroll through the app information, touch Next and read the privacy policy, then touch Yes, I'm in.
  3. Touch an activity.
  4. Use menus and tickboxes to customise the options.
  5. Touch for more information or to finish setup. To customise auto-replies, touch .
TipTo remove an activity or restore it to your list, touch > Settings.

To stop using Assist settings, deselect the selected options for the activity.

When Assist is active

When Assist is adjusting your phone settings, you’ll see an icon in the status bar with a notification, such as:

Driving
Home
Meeting
Sleeping

Assist uses sensors and rules to determine what you are doing and when to use your selected options. Occasionally you may want to temporarily stop using Assist settings. For example, if you are a passenger in a car or riding public transportation, Assist detects driving but cannot determine who is driving.

To temporarily stop using settings for the activity:

  1. Swipe the status bar down to view the notification.
  2. Touch ‘I'm not…’ to indicate you're not doing the activity. (If you don't see this option, drag the notification down with two fingers.) Your settings resume the next time you begin the activity.

To make changes to the activity's settings from the notification, touch it.
