Jot a quick note with the stylus

If your phone is locked

Write and save a quick note, no unlocking required.

  1. Remove the stylus.
  2. Write or draw your note. Learn more.

    To move the page, use two fingers to drag the page. Or tap to use scroll buttons.

  3. Touch to save the note in Moto Note.

To save the note to another app or share it, you’ll need to unlock the phone. Touch more options icon > Share, then unlock and select an option.

If your phone is unlocked

  1. Remove the stylus.
  2. Tap on the stylus menu.
  3. Write or draw your note. Learn more.

    To move the page, use two fingers to drag the page.

  4. Save your note:

    • To save it to Moto Note, touch .
    • To save it to another app or share it, touch more options icon > Share, then select an option.

Organize, find, delete notes

In the Moto Note app , you can categorize and label notes to find them easily, and delete old notes.

Add or edit titles

  1. Open the note.
  2. Tap Title and type a title.

    Or, tap the current title to edit it.

Categorize notes

To categorize a saved note:

  1. Open the note.
  2. Tap the title.
  3. Tap Uncategorized and select a category (To-do, Personal, Work) or tap New to create another.

To categorize a note when you create it:

  1. Tap menu icon to see the categories.
  2. Tap the category.
  3. Tap to create the note.

Find notes

To view notes by category, tap menu icon and select the category.

To search for a note:

  1. Tap menu icon and select All notes or a specific category to search.
  2. Tap and type a word from the title or content.

    Notes containing the word appear as you type.

  3. Tap a note to open it.

Delete notes or categories

To delete a note you haven't yet saved, tap and Discard.

To delete saved notes:

  1. Touch & hold the first note to delete, then tap any others to select them.
  2. Tap delete icon.

To delete a category you created:

  1. Tap menu icon > Manage categories.
  2. Tap delete icon.

    This doesn't delete any notes. It just moves them to Uncategorized.

Once you’ve opened a note, use these tools to write or draw.

Change tools

To use tools, touch an icon. Touch it again to adjust related options, like drawing tool, stroke thickness, color, pattern, or eraser size.

Straightedge to draw lines and check angles (Use two fingers to move or rotate it.)

Add images, audio, and more

In Moto Note, touch more options icon and select an option to add:

  • Images captured from the note or previously
  • Text boxes you can reposition and resize
  • Audio recorded right from the note
  • Background colors and patterns

Edit

  • Touch to undo your last stroke.
  • Touch to redo your last erased stroke.

Erase

To erase with the stylus:

  • To erase an area, touch and go over the area.
  • To erase everything, touch twice > Clear all.

To erase using your fingers:

  • To erase everything, swipe two fingers across the screen to clear it.
  • To erase an area with your finger instead of switching the stylus to the eraser tool, touch twice to open eraser options, then turn Finger eraser on toggle on switch.
