Connect with Bluetoothâ„¢

Bluetooth connections can really drain your battery. Save power by turning Bluetooth off when you are not connected to a device.

To connect with a new Bluetooth headset or other device, you need to pair with it. You only need to do this once for each device.

Pair with a Bluetooth device

  1. Make sure the Bluetooth device is in discoverable mode.
  2. Go to Settings and touch BLUETOOTH.
  3. Turn Bluetooth on. If it is already on, touch Search for devices.
  4. Touch a device to connect.
  5. If necessary, touch Pair or enter the device passkey (like 0000) to connect.

    appears in the status bar when the device is connected.

Allow Bluetooth bypass

If you use a screen lock on your phone, you can enable voice commands by touching the multi-function button on your paired Bluetooth device when the phone is locked.

  1. Go to Settings > Security & screen lock and check Allow Bluetooth bypass.
  2. When you want to bypass the lock screen and control your phone with voice commands, touch the multi-function button on your Bluetooth device.

Reconnect with a Bluetooth device

  1. Go to Settings and touch & hold BLUETOOTH to turn it on.
  2. Turn on the Bluetooth device.

    appears in the status bar when the device is connected.

Turn Bluetooth off

Bluetooth drains your battery, so turn it off when not in use.

Go to Settings and touch & hold BLUETOOTH to turn it off.

Change your phone name

Your phone name identifies your phone on a Bluetooth network. You can change the name.

  1. Go to Settings and touch BLUETOOTH.
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is on.
  3. Touch > Rename phone.
