About the Moto app

The Moto app gives you hands-free control of your phone and helps with everyday tasks.

To get started, touch > Moto.

Moto Actions

Control your phone with gestures. Twist your wrist twice quickly to open the camera from any screen.

Moto Voice

Tell your phone what to do without touching it, for example, when it's asleep on a table. You can control apps and features like these and more!

  • Text messaging - send, read, reply
  • Instant messaging - send, read, reply
  • Playing media - play, stop, pause, search
  • Navigation - change, reroute, traffic, cancel
  • Social networking - send, read, reply
  • Emailing - send, read, reply
  • Camera - take a picture, zoom, flash
  • Calling - make calls

Moto Display

See what's going on while your screen sleeps. Notification icons quietly appear and disappear on the screen, letting you have a peek at notifications while using very little power.

What happened to Moto Assist?

If you used the Moto app on Android Lollipop, you'll notice that Assist has been removed for Android Marshmallow. Its features have been moved to other places:

  • To have your phone read your messages and calls out loud while you are driving or when you are at a specific location, use Moto Voice.
  • To keep your phone silent when you are sleeping or in a meeting, use Do not disturb.
  • To keep your phone silent when you are at a certain location, search for ‘silence phone’ in Play Store and look for apps that give you this control.
