Automate settings at your places

Assist lets you set places, like home or work, and when it detects you are there, can read incoming text messages aloud and announce who is calling, or if you prefer, can keep your phone quiet. Only calls and messages from your contacts are announced and read.

TipYou can set your downtime to prevent interruptions during scheduled times. Assist lets you also prevent interruptions based on where you are, regardless of time.

To set it up:

  1. Touch > Moto.
  2. Touch > Assist.
  3. Touch and touch the type of place to add (home, work, or custom).
  4. When your location is detected, check the address. If needed, modify it by typing in the exact address or name of the place.
  5. Touch Select this location.

  6. Do any of the following:

    • To re-name your location, touch & hold the default name to select the text, then type the new name over it.
    • To allow only priority interruptions, touch Keep quiet.
    • To have text messages read aloud and callers announced, touch Talk to me.
TipTo stop voice readout temporarily, say “Stop”. Your settings resume when the next message arrives.
