Record your screen

Record your entire screen or just a single app. You can display screen touches and add audio and video commentary while recording.

Record screen

  1. To start recording, open quick settings and tap Screen record.

  2. If needed, adjust sound and screen touch options.

    • To mute all sound, turn off .
    • To use sound, turn on , then tap the current setting and select the microphone (your narration only), device audio (device sound with no mic for narration), or both.
    • To record a dot on the screen where your finger touches it, turn Show touches on screen on .
  3. Tap Start to start the countdown timer.

    While recording, you'll see in the status bar.

  4. To stop recording, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the red Recording screen notification.
  1. Open quick settings and tap .

    If you're playing a game and Gametime is on, tap > .

  2. Adjust recording settings if needed:

    • Tap down arrow to toggle between recording Entire screen or A single app.
    • Tap down arrow next to Record audio to adjust audio recording options.
    • Turn on Camera to include yourself in a small frame within the main frame.
    • To capture screen taps, enable Touch points.
  3. Tap Start recording.

    The recording controls and counter appear on the screen.

    While recording:

    • To adjust recording options, tap left arrow to expand the control bar, then make selections.
    • To pause, tap .
    • To restart recording, tap .
    • To reposition the controls on your screen, drag and drop them where you want.
  4. Tap to stop recording. Or, swipe down from the top of the screen, then tap the red notification.

Find your recordings

To view a recording immediately after you capture it, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the notification.

To view any time, open Gallery, Files, or another media viewing app, and look for the Screen record folder.
