Use Battery saver

Battery saver helps extend battery life until your next charge. Your phone can prompt you to activate it when the battery is low, or you can enable it anytime.

When Battery saver is on

When the phone is in Battery saver mode, you'll see in the status bar.

To save power, your phone will:

  • Turn on Dark theme (You can turn it off, but that uses more battery.)
  • Wait until you use an app to refresh its content, like email or news
  • Stop apps from doing things in the background
  • Stop using Location services when your screen is off

Turn Battery saver on/off

Open quick settings and tap to manually turn Battery saver on/off.

Turn Battery saver on automatically

To turn Battery saver on when your battery is below a specified level:

  1. Open quick settings, then touch & hold .
  2. Tap Power saving optimization > Low power saver and turn Save power when low battery on .
  3. Tap Set value of low power and select a percentage.
TipTo turn Battery saver off when your phone is charging, turn Exiting power saving mode when charging on . When you unplug the phone, Battery saver turns back on.

Set a schedule

  1. Open quick settings, then touch & hold .
  2. Tap Power saving optimization > Schedule power saving.
  3. Enter start and end times.
  4. Tap Battery mode during this time, and make sure that Power saving mode is selected.
